APSC Hosts Bryant Sports Leadership Institute
/in Events /by darichardsonLocal students from area city and county high schools participated in a summer event, the Bryant Sports Leadership Institute, to promote educational and career opportunities in sports-related fields. Students participated in journalism and broadcasting workshops and heard from top speakers in the field, including CBS Sports’ Bruce Feldman, Sports Illustrated Senior Writer Lars Anderson, and Football Bowl Association Executive Director Wright Waters.
TCF Students Recognized by College Sports Media Awards
/in Events /by darichardsonThree TCF Undergraduates won honors from the College Sports Media Awards, all in the category of “Student Special Feature.” The joint effort from Chad Haynie and Lee Smith was a finalist (top 5) with their entry about Alabama Softball and the tornado. Honorable mention was also given to Rebecca Cade (for a feature on Alabama’s rowing tuba player) and Chad Haynie (“U Are Here: Haylie McCleney”). Congrats to these students for their outstanding work!
APSC Holds Inaugural Symposium
/in Events, Videos /by darichardsonThe University of Alabama Program in Sports Communication held its inaugural Academic Symposium on Wednesday, March 20 at the Gorgas Library. Over 150 students and faculty presented their work and/or attended the Symposium. ESPN’s Mike Hill provided a guest lecture. The conference program was quite robust with Dr. Lance Kinney serving as Symposium Director.
ESPN’s Rece Davis Speaks to UA Students, Faculty, and Public

The SportsCenter anchor and host of “College Football Live” and “College GameDay” offered a short lecture and answered many audience questions.
