The Department of Journalism has now added a new sports news and information track for undergraduate majors. Students learn basic journalistic skills focused on reporting, writing, photography and videography, and study ethics and law. This is complemented by two sports-focused writing and reporting classes, a sports-related internship, and an introductory course in public relations for students interested in working for a sports information office. Students also have the opportunity to produce sports-related work our online publication, Dateline Alabama, for special digital projects and our travel magazine, Alpine Living. Our students have completed sports internships at The Tuscaloosa News and other newspapers, at Sports Illustrated and other magazines, at al.com and other websites, at ESPN, and for a variety of teams.
